Safety: practical privacy tips
Random sexting has specific privacy considerations that are worth knowing up front, separate from regular Telegram privacy advice. Five tips, all simple, all worth doing once when you start.
First tip, set a Telegram username before your first session. With a username set, the people you match with see only your username, not your phone number. Without a username, your number can leak. This is a thirty-second setting change that prevents the most common privacy leak.
Second tip, consider a secondary Telegram account dedicated to sexting. Telegram allows up to three accounts on the same phone. A second account, with a different (cheap prepaid) number, keeps your sexting activity separate from your regular Telegram identity. This is the gold standard for separation.
Third tip, use Telegram's secret chat feature for sessions where you exchange media you do not want stored. Secret chats are end-to-end encrypted, do not appear on other devices, and can auto-delete after a timer you set. Standard chats are not as locked down.
Fourth tip, do not send media that identifies you (face, distinctive tattoos, work uniforms, home interiors) early in a session. The further into the session you are, the more you have invested, but you can pace media-sharing.
Fifth tip, block immediately on uncomfortable behavior. Telegram block is instant and the other person cannot see you have blocked them. Use it freely.
